{"id":1729574,"date":"2017-10-26T09:52:15","date_gmt":"2017-10-26T16:52:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dostoevsky-bts.com\/blog\/?p=1729574"},"modified":"2017-10-26T09:52:15","modified_gmt":"2017-10-26T16:52:15","slug":"5-films-life-imitated-art","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dostoevsky-bts.com\/blog\/5-films-life-imitated-art\/","title":{"rendered":"5 Films Where Life Imitated Art"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">Oscar Wilde once said, \u201cLife imitates art far more than art imitates life\u201d. <\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">This is a saying we at VM Productions know to be uncomfortably true. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">When director Vitaly Sumin wanted to explore this theory in the plot of Notes from the New World, nobody expected just how accurate this saying could be.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">When the film\u2019s screenwriter Robert Hurley mysteriously disappeared, it became apparent that the occult and the Russian mafia could be involved, these true life events mirroring the fictional plot of Notes from the New World.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">Shocking and mysterious&#8230; but certainly not unique. This isn\u2019t the first time life has imitated art or, more accurately, film.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">Here are 5 movies that mysteriously came true in one way or another:<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>The Omen<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dostoevsky-bts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/the-omen.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1729636\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-1729636 size-large aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/dostoevsky-bts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/the-omen-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"the-omen\" width=\"768\" height=\"576\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dostoevsky-bts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/the-omen-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/dostoevsky-bts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/the-omen-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/dostoevsky-bts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/the-omen-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/dostoevsky-bts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/the-omen.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">Some called this movie cursed and some claimed someone or SOMETHING didn\u2019t want this film to be made, just as we feel something tried to halt production of Notes from the New World.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">Many, including Harvey Bernhard, the movie producer ,claimed the devil was at work. This may not be true but the strange occurrences surrounding this film certainly were. Lead actor Gregory Peck and writer David Seltzer both had their planes struck by lightning on two separate occasions, lightning being what contributed to the death of the priest, one of The Omen\u2019s most memorable scenes. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">More tragically the visual effect supervisor\u2019s assistant died in a car crash and was decapitated, mimicking a character\u2019s death (the photographer) in the film itself.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Troy<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dostoevsky-bts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/38697160-troy-wallpapers.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1729637\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-1729637 size-large aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/dostoevsky-bts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/38697160-troy-wallpapers-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"38697160-troy-wallpapers\" width=\"768\" height=\"432\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dostoevsky-bts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/38697160-troy-wallpapers-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/dostoevsky-bts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/38697160-troy-wallpapers-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/dostoevsky-bts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/38697160-troy-wallpapers-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/dostoevsky-bts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/38697160-troy-wallpapers.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">Although the movie Troy has been criticised for its historical inaccuracies, with Brad Pitt\u2019s portrayal of Achilles being challenged for the lack of accuracy in his depiction of the great warrior, something very accurate did happen in the film. As many probably know, Greek warrior, Achilles, was famously indestructible until an arrow managed to kill the hero when it pierced his heel, the only vulnerable part of his body. Not only is this legend interesting, it also gave name to the largest tendon in our body- the Achilles tendon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">It\u2019s uncanny that, while portraying Achilles, Pitt sustained an\u00a0ankle injury and tore his own Achilles tendon whilst filming; the accident delayed the movie\u2019s final scenes for months.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>The Birds<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dostoevsky-bts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/the-birds-1200-1200-675-675-crop-000000.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1729638\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-1729638 size-large aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/dostoevsky-bts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/the-birds-1200-1200-675-675-crop-000000-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"the-birds-1200-1200-675-675-crop-000000\" width=\"768\" height=\"432\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dostoevsky-bts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/the-birds-1200-1200-675-675-crop-000000-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/dostoevsky-bts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/the-birds-1200-1200-675-675-crop-000000-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/dostoevsky-bts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/the-birds-1200-1200-675-675-crop-000000-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/dostoevsky-bts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/the-birds-1200-1200-675-675-crop-000000.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">Alfred Hitchcock may have turned this unnerving tale into a cinematic masterpiece, but he never actually wrote the original story of The Birds- it was female author Daphne Du Maurier.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">We saw a great example of life imitating art in 2001 when Maurier\u2019s son and his wife were viciously attacked by a flock of seagulls.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Rosemary&#8217;s Baby<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dostoevsky-bts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/RosemarysBaby.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1729639\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-1729639 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/dostoevsky-bts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/RosemarysBaby-1024x551.jpg\" alt=\"RosemarysBaby\" width=\"768\" height=\"413\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dostoevsky-bts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/RosemarysBaby-1024x551.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/dostoevsky-bts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/RosemarysBaby-300x161.jpg 300w, https:\/\/dostoevsky-bts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/RosemarysBaby-768x413.jpg 768w, https:\/\/dostoevsky-bts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/RosemarysBaby.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">Rosemary\u2019s Baby is one of Roman Polanski\u2019s most famous films about a pregnant woman who fears her husband has signed a pact with a Satan-worshipping cult, offering her unborn child as a sacrifice in their rituals. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">Poltergeist is infamous for having a movie curse attached to it due to the untimely deaths of four of the cast members but it was the death of the movie\u2019s 12 year old star Heather O\u2019 Rourke that really shocked everybody.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">Sadly, the last scene to feature Heather O\u2019 Rourke is when she is on the other side (the afterlife) and it is in fact a body double that is used to film the return from the other side and the ending of the film, due to a script change.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">Spooky and ghostly events also surrounded the film, imitating the Poltergeist plot. <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;
